What is hyperpigmentation?
Melanin is the brown pigment in the skin that protects the you from exposure to the sun. Hyperpigmentation occurs when this pigment is overproduced which darkens patches of the skin to a brown colour different to the rest of your skin. The condition can be caused by excessive sun damage, damage to the skin, inflammation or complications related to acne vulgaris. However, it is a common condition occuring in a variety of forms, none of which prove detrimental to the patient's health.
Remove brown spots on skin
If you would like to create a more even skin tone there are a variety of treatment options available.
Skin peels accelerate the rate of exfoliation, which slows naturally with age, and promotes new, more regularly coloured skin cells. The skin will ultimately become slightly thicker which strengthens to skins resistance to the effects of ageing.
Prescription de-pigmenting creams remove some of the darkening pigments from your skin providing a more uniform, even skin tone.
