Hyperhidrosis – Don’t have a sweaty summer!

Hyperhidrosis (Excessive sweating) is a condition that most people don’t know they have, and few people like to talk about.

This is a condition that gets worse with hot weather so if you’re concerned about how much you sweat now is the time to seek treatment – a treatment now should last until the end of the summer!

Signs you might have Hyperhidrosis

Keep a look-out for these signs, if you answer yes to any of these you might have Hyperhidrosis.

1.  Continual sweating, all day long

2.  Sweating in the cold

3.  Sweating from one area (especially palms, feet, face and underarms) a lot more than anywhere else

Non-surgical Hyperhidrosis treatments

There are two main non-surgical treatments for Hyperhidrosis; Botox injections and Iontophoresis.

Botox is an injectable treatment which paralyzes the sweat glands, halting sweat production. This treatment will lasts for 3 to 9 months, with some people only needing one treatment a year.

Iontophoresis is an electrical treatment which temporarily stops the sweat glands from producing sweat. This treatment will typically last for 6 weeks and up to 6 months. Perfect if you need to be using your hands without constantly drying them this summer!

Surgical Hyperhidrosis treatments

Surgical treatments for Hyperhidrosis involve permanently removing the sweat glands. The problem with this is it can cause a great amount of compensatory sweating. Essentially your hyperhidrosis will just change location.

This is why we would always recommend non-surgical means first.
